WAIT... IS NOW THE TIME TO DO SOMETHING GREAT?

WAIT... IS NOW THE TIME TO DO SOMETHING GREAT?

Above: My daughter and I looking out at LA skyline on top of the Hollywood sign.

Many people are filled with anxiety and fear about the uncertainty of life right now.

Will I lose my job?

  • Will my company survive?
  • Will the economy collapse?
  • Will I or someone I love get COVID-19?
  • The list goes on.

The truth is that all those things could happen. They’re very real. In fact, you may have already experienced some type of loss.

That said…

Could now be the time to do something great?

Could now be an opportunity to do what you’ve been putting off forever?

Maybe now is the time to start a:

  • Side hustle of some kind.
  • New business.
  • Game plan for a new career.
  • Fitness routine.
  • Podcast.

Or maybe it’s time to get a higher level of training in your current job or business so when things get back to normal, you’re ready to go.

With nearly everyone on lockdown, you might have a lot more time, flexibility or freedom than normal. Use that cushion to pursue something great.

But…what? Odds are you already know what it is. It’s the thing you’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Or maybe it’s the project you started, but stopped.

Maybe now is the time. Just maybe this is an opportunity in disguise.

Will you pursue it?

Here’s what’s been going on in my world:

My family of 5 is moving from New Orleans to San Diego. Yep, in the middle of all this chaos we’ve started the process of moving. I know many of you might think we’re absolutely crazy. I get it. Yes, it is a risky move. But we’re doing it anyway. Since the kids have all transitioned to online school, it makes the move a bit easier. We’re more flexible to move when we find the right house. This is a move we’ve considered for about 8 years…and we’re ready to go. Now is the time.

In fact, here's a pic of me on a hike near where we soon hope to live:

Now, let's talk business. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I needed to notice what changes were happening in my market. I own an online curriculum publishing company. That required me to quickly pivot my approach to everything. I did and…so far organic revenue has increased with less marketing and advertising efforts. Overall, business is better than before. But if I would have kept up dong the same old things…sales would have plummeted. I have absolutely no idea what the future will bring, but so far so good.

Lastly, now is the time for me to focus on creating motivational content here on the Pure Canvas Art website. COVID-19 has helped clarify what I want to do with this company, and right now that means creating awesome content for you. We’ll also be soon coming out with new canvas designs, which I am really excited about.

What new adventure awaits you?

How will you need to pivot your career or business?

Is now the time for you to do something great?

Eva, I just saw your comment. Sorry it took so long to respond to you (won’t happen again). Thanks for sharing your story here! Really appreciate it. Hope all is good in Ohio :)

I left Cleveland, OH to move to San Diego December 2007, right when the recession hit 2008. I had no job, no money saved, no place to live, and didn’t know anyone in San Diego. I traveled across the country by myself, at age 53. Needless to so it wasn’t easy, most people thought I was crazy, but I took a risk & I did it. Ten years later my mom passed (in Ohio) so I drove across the country again, this time to resettle back in OH. I like how you think, looking forward to hearing me…you could be my twin brother…With Gratitude, Eva Starr
